Liverpool must abandon transfer strategy to secure the next Mo Salah Liverpool’s academy has produced some very highly rated talent in recent years. The Reds have a reputation for giving local talent a chance, but they have also become well versed in signing youth players from other academies before they explode onto the scene. Harvey Elliott, Jarell Quansah, Tyler Morton and Conor Bradley are just some of the academy players who have broken through into Liverpool’s first-team in recent seasons.
One thing all four of those players have in common is that they enjoyed successful stints on loan before becoming regulars at Anfield, but that is a strategy that Liverpool should look to avoid with their latest superstar talent. Rio Ngumoha must remain at Liverpool to eclipse Mo Salah Rio Ngumoha has announced himself as one of the most exciting prospects in world football this season. The 17-year-old has shown glimpses of absolute brilliance in his limited minutes, and many supporters feel he should now be one of the first names on Arne Slot’s team sheet.
His talent has been clear since his arrival at the AXA training centre last season and the youngster is now showing it in the first-team. Anfield Watch exclusively revealed last year that the club had decided to delete and edit footage of the then-16-year-old in training in a bid to contain the hype around him. Up until recently, many believed the best thing for Ngumoha’s development next season would be finding a suitable loan move to allow him to get regular starts for a first-team.
That’s no longer something Liverpool should consider, and the only team Ngumoha should be starting for regularly next season is the Reds. The club have found great success with loan moves in recent years, but arguably the two most successful academy graduates from the last decade, Curtis Jones & Trent Alexander-Arnold, were never loaned out. Ngumoha shouldn’t be either, the teenager has proven he is good enough to feature in Slot’s starting XI and he should remain at Anfield to cement his place as a first-team regular next season.
