Green Street Three-star guard from Florida lands Illini offer

May 15—could potentially land another high-level prospect from the state of Florida. It's been an area the Illinois women's basketball program has had some recruiting success as Green enters her fifth season in Champaign in landing current Illini redshirt freshman forward from IMG Academy and former Illini guard out of Montverde Academy. The recruiting of would be different in that the Class of 2028 guard isn't at a prep academy school.

Thomas is considered one of the state's high-rising prospects after finishing up her sophomore year at St. Thomas Aquinas in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. Thomas, who is listed anywhere from 5-foot-10 to 6 foot on various recruiting services websites, averaged 18.

Thomas led the Raiders to their fifth state title in six years with a dominant 65-22 victory against Palm Bay Bayside in FHSAA Class 6A state championship game on March 14 at UNF Arena in Jacksonville, Fla. Thomas produced a game-high 18 points on 6 of 9 shooting, including a trio of made three-pointers in addition to pulling down four rebounds and adding two assists, one steal and one blocked shot.

The Illini offered Thomas, a three-star guard per ESPN, on Tuesday. Illinois is now one of 12 schools that have offered Thomas along with Florida, Florida State, Georgetown, Georgia Tech, George Mason, Miami, Murray State, Penn State, Texas A&M and UCF.
