Anthony Richardson on his situation with the Colts: 'Blessing in disguise'
Anthony Richardson discussed his situation with the Colts on Thursday night; here's what he said
Anthony Richardson is entering his fourth NFL season, but his future with the Indianapolis Colts is murky. The No. 4 overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft played sparingly in 2025, suffered a fractured orbital bone in a freak pregame accident and has sought a trade — though there are no takers yet.
Richardson remains hopeful, attending Colts voluntary offseason workouts. "The Colts are still giving me a chance to go out there and work, work hard and potentially get on the field," Richardson said while this jersey was retired by Gainesville (Fla. ) Eastside High School.
"Glad to be able to stay in the NFL and put the work in. Just showing up at OTAs, it was a blessing in disguise for me because I just wanted to work and they allowed me to do that so I'm thankful for that. " Plan your fandom: 5 observations from the Colts' deceptively tough 2026 schedule Richardson has had several injuries and was benched for a couple of games in 2024.
He has appeared in 17 games over three seasons and lost the starting job to Daniel Jones in '25. Despite all that, he remains hopeful. "If I don't put that work in to be a better player then I won't be in the NFL," Richardson said.
