Lawrence County headed to first state tournament time since 2015
May 15—FLORENCE — Lawrence County secured a spot in the state softball tournament for the first time since 2015 on Thursday, the last day of regional softball tournament. The Red Devils were down 8-3 going into the seventh inning but stormed back to win 9-8 against Ardmore and secure their spot as Class 5A's North Regional Qualifier 1. Ardmore's season ended with a loss to Class 5A No.
2 Boaz in the losers bracket final. — Lawrence County 9, Ardmore 8: The Red Devils scored six runs in the bottom of the seventh to come back from an 8-3 deficit and qualify for the state tournament next week in Oxford. Reagan Smith went 3-for-4 for Lawrence County, including a double for three RBIs.
Alivia Terry had two RBIs while going 3-for-4 with a double. McKinley McCaghren hit two doubles and an RBI. Ellie Stark and LA Norwood each knocked in a run.
For Ardmore, Fannon Broadway went 3-for-4 with three RBIs and a double. Brenley Dempsey had two RBIs. Makena Hall grabbed an RBI on a double.
