Seahawks cut ties with high-priced rookie for rare reason
It isn't every day you see a team cut a player with the kind of designation the Seattle Seahawks used on one of their rookies.
The Seattle Seahawks have decided to waive one of their undrafted free-agent signings , and the reason for doing so is not one you see in the NFL everyday. According to the NFL transactions wire on Thursday, Seattle cut ties with wide receiver Michael Briscoe, who just signed his contract on May 1. The rookie was waived with a “failure to disclose physical condition” designation.
While we don’t know the exact issue, the designation is pretty self-explanatory. Clearly Briscoe had some kind of physical problem he didn’t tell the team about and the Seahawks found out about it. Now, he’s looking for a new NFL home.
Briscoe played his college ball at Cal Poly-San Luis Obispo. He had his best collegiate season in 2025 with 779 receiving yards and seven touchdowns. Briscoe posted 1,765 receiving yards and 15 touchdowns from 2020 through 2025.
