Flag football sectionals begin today
Today, eight teams across the North Country will determine who advances to the next round for the flag football playoffs. From Saranac to Plattsburgh and Beekmantown to Champlain, the fields will be active to see whose season continues and who will see theirs end. Top-seed NCCS finished the regular season 13-0.
Second-seed Saranac took some lumps early but have set up a potential championship matchup with the Cougars. Beekmantown had some growing pains early as they looked to replace a number of key starters from last yearโs sectional champion and Final Four participant. Like the Spartans, they have righted the ship and are ready for playoffs.
Fourth-seed Plattsburgh and fifth-seed NAC have both seen improvement over the past year, and their matchup today could be the one to watch. There's no guarantee sixth-seed Keene, seventh-seed Schroon Lake or eighth-seed Moriah will be bowing out today, but they each face tall tasks in the Eagles, Spartans and Cougars, respectively. Games are scheduled for the quarterfinals today and semifinals Tuesday with games being played at the higher seed.
The quarterfinals will see PHS vs. NAC and Beekmantown vs. Keene played at 4:30 p.
