Red Wings offense stalls late in loss to IronPigs

Red Wings score early but bullpen shuts them down in 6-3 loss to IronPigs at ESL Ballpark.

The Rochester Red Wings could not hold an early lead and fell to the Lehigh Valley IronPigs 6-3 Thursday at ESL Ballpark. Rochester opened the scoring in the first inning. Dylan Crews worked a one-out walk and Yohandy Morales ripped a double to left, putting two in scoring position.

Andres Chaparro hit a two-run single up the middle to score both runners and give Rochester a 2-0 lead. Lehigh Valley responded in the second inning against Rochester starter Trevor Gott. Dylan Carlson drew a leadoff walk and scored on Paul McIntoshโ€™s line-drive double to center, then Stewart Berroa followed with a two-run home run to right field to put the IronPigs ahead 3-2.

Gott exited after the home run and Holden Powell took over in relief. IronPigs regain control in middle innings Rochester tied the game in the third inning without a hit. Morales walked, stole second and reached third on a wild pitch before Andrew Pinckney's groundout to the mound brought him home.

The IronPigs took the lead again in the fourth inning. Christian Cairo beat out an infield single, stole second and scored on Berroa's RBI single to right, giving Lehigh Valley a 4-3 edge. IronPigs' bullpen shuts down Red Wings Lehigh Valley's bullpen was effective.
