“All those GMs [are] probably going to get fired,” Leslie said. The survey asked general managers which player they would choose to start a franchise. Bueckers led the category with 33% of the vote, while Clark received 20%.
That result was a major shift from the previous year, when Clark was the clear choice for many executives. Part of the change came from Bueckers’ rise with the Dallas Wings and Clark’s injury-limited 2025 season. But Leslie clearly believed the voting ignored the bigger picture.
