Howe says Newcastle are not currently looking to sign a striker this summer Eddie Howe suggested Newcastle will not be in the market for a striker this summer. Yoane Wissa and Nick Woltemade both arrived for big money last summer following the departure of Alexander Isak, but have struggled to replicate the Sweden international’s impact. But asked if a centre-forward is on the list of priorities this summer, the Newcastle boss said: “Certainly not at the moment, because in terms of the striker numbers we’ve got, we’ve got healthy numbers in that position.
“I’d say it’s been a challenge for us, trying to find the right balance, trying to find a way to continually score goals and create the amount of chances that we want to. I don’t think we’re quite there yet. “I think we’ve got work to do in that area but obviously Yoane (Wissa) has had fitness struggles, Will Osula has really grown late into the season and I think he’s done really well in recent games, of course Anthony (Gordon) has played there, Nick (Woltemade) has played there and done well earlier in the season.
“I think the players are there, we’ve just got to try and bring it all together and make it work. ”
