Did FC Bayern put its foot in its mouth?

Well, as it turns out, yes.

According to a report from Tz journalist Mano Bonke , Newcastle United might not be inclined to drop its asking price on Gordon, as an ill-fated comment from Bayern Munich supervisory board member Karl-Heinz Rummenigge still stings the Magpies. With Bayern Munich — allegedly — having a cap of €70 million on its bid for Gordon and Newcastle United seeking upwards of €90 million, this could get messy: Negotiations with Newcastle, where the 25-year-old England international is under contract until the summer of 2030, are likely to prove more difficult. The Magpies are reportedly demanding nearly €90 million for the player, whose current market value is €45 million.

This sum is simply too high for those in charge at Säbener Straße, whose maximum acceptable offer is said to be €70 million. What could complicate the transfer: When Nick Woltemade moved from VfB Stuttgart to Newcastle last summer for approximately 75 million euros, Bayern Munich’s supervisory board chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge commented: “I can only congratulate those in Stuttgart for finding, I’ll say it in quotation marks, an idiot who paid so much money. ” Words that still resonate in Newcastle and could prove costly for Bayern.

Funny enough, when Rummenigge made his statement, Gordon was one of the Newcastle United players who spoke up in support of Woltemade and the club. “To be honest, it’s a bit silly, especially when the player has had a really good start. If he’d had a bad start, you could have made that comment.
