Vermont Green FC and Vermont Works for Women partner to expand opportunities for female athletes and support women across the state.

Vermont Works for Women is teaming up with Vermont Green Football Club for the club’s inaugural women’s soccer season. The partnership, known as "More Green More Good," aims to expand opportunities for female athletes and support women across the state, according to a community announcement. Three women-owned businesses — BirdieBlue, //Gametheory and Ursa Major — have signed on as inaugural partners.

They will sponsor Vermont Green and pledge $50 per home goal to support Vermont Works for Women’s statewide programs. Vermont Works for Women, founded in 1987, promotes gender equity and supports women and youth at every stage of their careers. The organization offers career exploration, trades training, career coaching and workshops.

Vermont Green Football Club, founded in 2022, is a member of the United Soccer League. The team earned its first men’s national championship last year after going undefeated for the season. After hosting exhibition games for two seasons, the club is launching a full women’s team this summer.

Rhoni Baden, executive director of Vermont Works for Women, expressed excitement about the partnership. “For decades, women’s sports have been driving a global push for pay equity and female empowerment,” Baden said. “We were thrilled when Vermont Green announced they would be joining the USL W League, and we’re grateful for their partnership and willingness to try something new with 'More Green More Good.
