It’s our last best hope of not only something tangibly shiny for this season, but also for getting European football next season.
Beating Manchester City won’t be easy, obviously. In fact, that’s something we haven’t done since another final five years ago: now thirteen games against City without a win since the 2021 Champions League final in Porto. But anything can happen in a one-off game, right?
Even a Chelsea win. Maybe. We will have a few additional attacking options for this game compared to last weekend, when we had a grand total zero recognized wingers.
Pedro Neto and Alejandro Garnacho may not be world beaters, but they both have trained this week and should be available. Interim head coach Calum McFarlane didn’t go as far as to declare them fully fit, but he’s hopeful of their return. And we should be getting Robert Sánchez back as well from concussion protocol.
