Reception to celebrate Wolves Women's promotion
The team won promotion to Women's Super League 2 after beating Plymouth Argyle Women, on 4 May.
The team sold 3,000 tickets in advance, with more Wolves fans at the stadium on the day [BBC] A civic reception is to be held to celebrate Wolverhampton Wanderers Women FC's promotion. The team were promoted to the Barclays Women's Super League 2, (WSL2) on 4 May, after beating Plymouth Argyle Women 1-0. The reception will be hosted by the mayor of Wolverhampton, councillor Craig Collingswood, at the Civic Centre on Friday, from midday.
Players, coaching staff and representatives from Wolves Women FC will be attending, the council said, with the promotion-winning trophy on display. It is the first time the team has secured promotion to the WSL2 which happened in front of more than 3,000 fans at the Pirelli Stadium, the home of League One club Burton Albion FC. Speaking at the time, manager Dan McNamara said it was an "incredible moment" and that he was overwhelmed to be able to share it "with such an incredible group".
