It's almost time for another edition of the "Greatest Spectacle in Sports", but before the 110th running of the Indy 500, there must be qualifying races.

Qualifying for such an iconic race is a high-stakes process. Time trials take place over the course of two days, with the starting grid being determined by four-lap average speeds rather than single lap times. Races will get started on Saturday with full-field qualifying for positions 16-33.

This year, a new three-round format will take place on Sunday, creating tougher competition for the front rows. That will begin with Final 15, then move onto Top 12, and eventually the Firestone Fast Six, which will cement positions 1-6. Be sure to tune in as the field becomes clearer for this year's iconic race.
