UE has four batters walked in against Murray State

EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEHT) — The University of Evansville baseball team benefitted from some bad pitching by Murray State in game one of their regular season series finale. The Purple Aces found themselves down 5-2 early in the game, but then Racers began to struggle on the mound.

Nic Schutte walked a batter in during the third inning, but was replaced in the fourth after doing it a second time. Ethan Lyke took over,but then proceeded to walk the next batter in. He followed by given up another run by hitting Cooper Rhodes with a pitch to tie the game up at five.

Then he walked Reagan Reeder to give the Aces a one run lead before getting out of the inning. In the bottom of the six, UE bats finally came alive as they recorded three hits in the inning including a Reeder two RBI triple. Mason McCue then added to the lead with a sacrifice bunt towards first base to get a runner home.

With a 9-5 lead Evansville gave up a run in the top of the seventh before adding an insurance run in the eighth to win the game 10-6. The Purple Aces are back in action for game two against Murray State Friday, May 15th at 6 p. m.
