High school softball: Thursday’s 6A/5A Super Regionals Game 1 recaps

Lily Gritton helped secure Bingham’s victory, going 1 for 4 at the plate with a hit and pitching the win with four strikeouts. Cedar Valley rallied late with four runs each in the fifth and sixth innings but could not overcome Bingham’s early lead. Game 2 is scheduled for Friday.
Skyridge 11, Westlake 8 In Game 1 of the 6A Regionals best-of-3 series, Skyridge, ranked No. 10, rallied in the later innings to beat No. 7 Westlake 11-8.
Trailing by four runs after two innings, Skyridge scored five runs in the third inning and three more in the fourth to take the lead. Eden Rose went 2 for 4 and drove in three runs for Skyridge, while Callie Baker added a hit and an RBI. Westlake, with a homer each from Devi Tuivai and Audrey Sherman, couldn’t capitalize on Skyridge’s two errors and their four of their own cost them.
