Robbinsville boys track and field won its first state championship at the NCHSAA 1A meet on May 14. See all WNC top performers here.

Robbinsville boys track and field won its first-ever state championship May 14, dominating the NCHSAA 1A state meet at the Marcus T. Johnson Track on the campus of North Carolina A&T State University in Greensboro with 100 team points. The Black Knights were led by three state champions , including Isiac Collins, Nathan Frederick and the school's 3,200-meter relay team.

Four other members of the team finished on the podium in their individual events, as well as a second-place finish from the 1,600-meter relay team. Robbinsville girls track and field was the runner-up in 1A, narrowly missing out on a state title. The Black Knights finished with 66 team points compared to Thomas Jefferson Classical Academy's 67.

Isiac Collins, Robbinsville: Collins threw a best shot put of 49-5 to win the 1A state championship. he also finished as the runner-up in discus with a throw of 131-6. Nathan Frederick, Robbinsville: Frederick's 800-meter run time of 1:58.
