Jets sign veteran wide receiver Tim Patrick, waive kicker Will Ferrin
FLORHAM PARK, N. J. (AP) — The New York Jets signed veteran wide receiver Tim Patrick on Thursday, adding some pass-catching depth to their offense.
The 32-year-old Patrick had 15 receptions for 187 yards and three touchdowns in 16 games, including three starts, last season for Jacksonville . Patrick joins a Jets wide receivers room that includes Garrett Wilson, Adonai Mitchell, Isaiah Williams and first-round draft pick Omar Cooper Jr . Patrick has familiarity with Jets coach Aaron Glenn, who was Detroit's defensive coordinator in 2024 when the wide receiver caught 33 passes for 394 yards and three TDs in his lone season with the Lions.
Current Jets general manager Darren Mougey was in Denver's front office when the Broncos signed Patrick as an undrafted free agent out of Utah in 2017. Patrick had 143 catches for 2,009 yards and 12 TDs for Denver before missing the 2022 season with a torn ACL and the following season with a torn Achilles tendon. The Jets waived kicker Will Ferrin to make room on the roster for Patrick.
Ferrin was signed as an undrafted free agent out of BYU earlier this month. New York still have veteran Cade York and Lenny Krieg as kickers on the roster. ___ AP NFL: https://apnews.
