Katie McCabe to leave Arsenal after more than 10 years at the club
Katie McCabe will leave Arsenal at the end of the season following the expiration of her contract after more than a decade at the club. The 30-year-old joined the north London side in October 2015 and has made 305 appearances, scoring 37 goals while playing a variety of positions including full-back, central midfielder and on the wing. The Athletic reported in February that McCabe’s Arsenal future was in doubt, and reported last month that Women’s Super League champions Manchester City were pursuing the free agent signing of McCabe along with team-mate Beth Mead .
Arsenal announced on Monday that Mead would be leaving the club after nine seasons. No deals have yet been agreed for either player and nothing can be signed until June 1 due to restrictions on clubs speaking to players under contract at teams within their association. The Athletic reported in January that Arsenal were in talks to sign Barcelona full-back Ona Batlle , who is capable of playing on both flanks and would be a potential replacement for McCabe.
During her time in north London, McCabe helped the team win the WSL title, the Champions League and a FIFA Champions Cup, as well as one FA Cup and three League Cups. After a decade of representing the badge with honour, Katie McCabe will leave the club this summer. Our number 11 has won every title with Arsenal and leaves behind a legacy to be truly proud of.
