Last season, Achane totaled over 1,800 yards from scrimmage and had 12 touchdowns. It has been reported that after the Dolphins traded away wide receiver Jaylen Waddle to the Denver Broncos, they began fielding calls from teams asking about Achane's availability. Dolphins general manager Jeff Hafley remained firm on the stance that he was not available for trade.

De'Von Achane now sits behind Saquon Barkley and Christian McCaffrey in terms of contract money for running backs. The Dolphins feel that it is well warranted and deserved to lock Achane down heading into the 2026 season.
