Garrick Higgo delivers an all-time 6-word quote on being late to tee time
This is hilarious from Garrick Higgo after his two-stroke penalty for being late to his 2026 PGA Championship tee time.
It was the biggest question golf fans had after Garrick Higgo's pretty great first round at the 2026 PGA Championship at Aronimink: How could a golfer be late for his tee time , at a major no less, when it's one of those things you can't be late for and it costs you two strokes to start? We may never know the true answer, but Higgo's answer was an all-timer. After ESPN indicated that he was one minute late to his tee time on Thursday -- which led to that aforementioned two-stroke penalty -- he spoke with ESPN's Marty Smith after shooting a 1-under that could have been a 3-under had he been on time.
"I was on time, but late. " Print that up on a t-shirt. Garrick Higgo tells Marty Smith his argument to the rules officials post-round.
โI was on time, but lateโ is an instant HOF-er. Need a quote graphic on that pronto pic. twitter.
