Over 20 Pocono track and field athletes are going to states. See who's making the 'Trip to Ship'
After two days of district championship competition, two dozen Pocono track and field athletes will compete for a state title.
The 2026 District 11 track and field championships have concluded, and the Poconos will be well represented at the state meet in Shippensburg. Twenty-four total athletes from six area schools either won their events or met the qualifications to compete in states. East Stroudsburg South had the most successful week of any school, with four athletes bringing home a district championship: Kimora Woods (100-meter hurdles) and Olivia Robinson (shot put) both blew out the competition; Elijah Couch (300-meter hurdles) bounced back from a rough 110-meter hurdles performance to with gold; and Ivan Laubach (javelin) pushed through an injury to finish atop the podium.
Stroudsburg High School also has a pair of gold medalists as senior Julia Grant (400-meter dash) continued her dominance, and Josh Ivers-Green (high jump) nearly broke a school record before getting his gold. The last gold medalist is Pleasant Valley senior Uriah Gearhart, who won the triple jump despite dealing with a serious knee injury. Here are the state track and field qualifiers from each Pocono school.
