"Just knowing that you can make the best score possible by working at it and having a solid game, you can manage anything. " Besick shook off a chip shot approach into the 424-yard final hole at the Fairfield Golf and Country Club that landed within five feet of cup, only to roll off the edge of the green into the rough, and came back to convert a tough bogey putt that preserved the last of the three-shot lead the Pella senior had built up through the first 17 holes. Rolling in the final putt clinched a six-over par round of 76, edging Washington senior Rajan Roth by a single stroke while leading Pella to the overall sectional team title on Wednesday.

"It just takes time. You have to work at it and you have to work hard," Besick said. "If you don't put the work in, you're never going to do something.
