Former Clemson linebacker Wade Woodaz signs rookie deal with Texans
The Houston Texans and former Clemson linebacker Wade Woodaz have agreed to terms for his rookie contract. He is officially a Texan.
Wade Woodaz is officially under contract after the former Clemson linebacker signed his rookie deal with the Houston Texans on Wednesday. Houston selected Woodaz in the fourth round of the 2026 NFL Draft with the No. 123 overall pick, and his rookie contract is reportedly worth around $5.
5 million over four years with a signing bonus of roughly $1. 1 million. Woodaz wrapped up his Clemson career as one of the defense’s most productive and reliable players.
Across four seasons with the Tigers, he piled up more than 200 total tackles while contributing as both a pass rusher and coverage linebacker. He also made plays all over the field with interceptions, forced fumbles, pass breakups and even a blocked punt during his time in Death Valley. Last season, Woodaz served as a team captain and started every game for Clemson, finishing with 77 tackles while helping lead the middle of the Tigers defense.
Clemson linebackers coach Ben Boulware didn’t hold back when describing what Houston is getting in Woodaz. “Wade checks every single box of an elite NFL linebacker: size, speed, football intelligence, leadership, etc. ,” Boulware said.
