Tocoi Creek, Bolles take on FHSAA flag football semifinals
Tocoi Creek and Bolles begin the FHSAA flag football state semifinals in Tampa, both pursuing a chance at history in the final four.
The Florida High School Athletic Association begins the flag football final four for teams across Jacksonville and Northeast Florida. The state semifinals begin Friday, May 15, at Tampa's AdventHealth Training Center. All schedules are as listed by the FHSAA, but are subject to change.
CLASS 4A SEMIFINAL Tocoi Creek (12-7) vs. Park Vista (18-0), 1:30 p. m.
The Toros' memorable run from a 6-7 midseason record and the No. 6 seed in their region has carried them all the way to the final four for the first time in school history. In sophomore Addy Curry (1,697 yards passing, 24 TD; 413 yards rushing, 6 TD), they've got one of Northeast Florida's top all-around players, with Anneliese Herrera, Ansley Helton and Kendall Moreno among several passing targets.
On defense, Curry has snatched 11 interceptions, and Jordan Janssen and Kayla Tiner combine for 41 sacks. But top seed Park Vista, which has outscored foes 464-64, will be tough: Jordana Weil (3,329 yards and 54 TD passing) and Sydney Hock (120 catches, 1,411 yards, 31 TD) make a deadly downfield duo. The winner advances to meet Ruskin Lennard or Harmony in the Class 4A championship at 2 p.
