Prep Roundup 5/12: 'Boro baseball wins in walk-off fashion
May 13—Chase Bailey scored the game-winning run on a wild pitch to give Springboro a 7-6 senior day walk-off win against Troy on Tuesday, May 12, ending the game in time to allow 'Boro baseball to check in on Springboro grad A. J. Ewing's MLB debut.
Ben Veletean tallied two hits with two RBI and Bailey and Jacob Rhinehart each went 2-for-3 with one RBI apiece to lead 'Boro. The win moved the Panthers to 17-6 overall with a matchup at Greater Catholic League Co-Ed champion Badin up next on Thursday, May 14. The loss ended a 12-game win streak for Troy.
Logan Akers had two hits with three runs scored in a losing effort. Troy dropped to 20-2 overall. The Trojans are slated to play at Greater Western Ohio Conference champion Centerville on Wednesday, May 13.
Baseball Northmont 12, Miamisburg 1: Jayden Snyder picked up the win with five innings of work as well as going 2-for-3 with two RBI and two runs scored to lead Northmont. Bryce Staggs added two RBI and Brady Whitaker doubled and drove in one. Lebanon 10, Chaminade Julienne 5: Mason Hurst had a 3-for-3 day with two runs scored and one RBI in a fifth straight win for Lebanon.
Carroll 9, Wilmington 5: Joey Pleiman finished with three hits and two RBI and Mitchel Schmidt added two RBI for Carroll. Fenwick 13, Fairborn 0: Carter Shouse smacked a home run while Jude McCullough and Anthony Snyder combined on the shutout for Fenwick. Butler 8, Stebbins 6: Jack Egbert went 2-for-3 with two RBI and two stolen bases, Davis Ketterer improved to 6-0 on the mound and Butler held off a Stebbins rally effort to improve to 20-3 overall.
