The #Packers have claimed WR Brenden Rice, son of Jerry, off waivers from the #Raiders . โ€” Ari Meirov (@MySportsUpdate) May 13, 2026 Brenden is the son of legendary wide receiver Jerry Rice, who spent the last few years of his Hall of Fame career with the Raiders.

Brenden is a talented route runner who could serve as an excellent depth option in Green Bay. The receiver was nothing short of a star throughout his time at both Colorado and USC on the college level, but Rice was unable to find a true fit in the Raidersโ€™ offense. The 6-3, 210-pounder was originally drafted by the Los Angeles Chargers in the 7th round of the 2024 NFL Draft.

Vegas signed Rice to their practice squad following his release in 2025, but the Raiders ultimately decided to part ways with the playmaker and Rice now finds himself in Green Bay as a result. The former Raider recorded 1,821 yards and 21 touchdowns across four seasons at Colorado and USC from 2020-2023. Rice appeared in just three games with the Chargers in 2024, but the then-rookie was unable to make a true impact in Los Angeles nonetheless.

Rice will more than likely have to fight his way towards a roster spot on the Packers this season, but the former Raider has officially found a new home in Green Bay for the time being.
