He was playing left field for the Colorado Rockies on Wednesday night in Pittsburgh, and he turned a 7-unassisted double play. For those not familiar with scorebook lingo -- '7' is the number representing the left fielder, and an unassisted double play means that McCarthy turned it without anyone else touching the baseball. How'd he do that?
With one out and a guy on second, a liner brought McCarthy charging in to make a catch. The runner on second base thought the ball was going to drop and took off running to score, but McCarthy came through with the grab. And then when he looked up and saw the runner had gone way too far to ever make it back, McCarthy didn't mess around with a throw.
