Son of Hall of Fame wide receiver joins Green Bay Packers
The NFL has entered the offseason workout phase. Teams are beginning OTAs, with minicamps and training camps set to start in the coming months. Teams are also looking to round out their rosters through last-minute free-agent signings.
The NFL Draft concluded less than a month ago, but roster moves continue across the league. MORE: De’Von Achane gets massive contract extension from Dolphins The Green Bay Packers made an interesting waiver claim on Wednesday, acquiring wide receiver Brenden Rice — the son of Hall of Fame receiver Jerry Rice. Once projected as a Day 2 pick, Rice fell to the seventh round of the 2024 NFL Draft, where the Los Angeles Chargers selected him. Since entering the league, Rice has yet to appear in a game and has bounced around the NFL.
He is now joining his fifth team. Most recently, Rice spent time with the Las Vegas Raiders during the 2025 season and into the offseason. The Raiders waived him to make room for other acquisitions.
