On Wednesday night, he made good on those intentions — inking the 24-year-old ball-carrier to a new contract that will tie Achane to the Dolphins for an additional four seasons. According to ESPN’s Marcel Louis Jacques, Achane and the team agreed to terms on a 4-year, $64 million extension ($16 million per year), with bonuses that could push the deal up to $17 million per season if certain conditions are met.
The deal now makes Achane the third highest paid running back in the National Football League in terms of yearly salary — sitting behind only Saquon Barkley of the Philadelphia Eagles ($20. 6 million per year) and Christian McCaffrey of the San Francisco 49ers ($19 million per year) according to Over the Cap .
