Sandwich baseball takes down Falmouth. HIGH SCHOOL ROUNDUP
Recapping Wednesday's Cape Cod and Islands high school sports action.
The Sandwich baseball team may have a losing record, but treat the Blue Knights as just any other squad at your own peril. The Blue Knights (8-9) defeated Falmouth 6-4 on Wednesday. It marked the third win in a row for the Blue Knights.
On the Sandwich Senior Night, Joe Coughlan picked up the win on the mound. Coughlan went seven innings, allowed five hits, two earned runs and struck out seven batters. Tyler Jones drove in five runs, including a three-run home run in the first inning.
James Lehane went 2-for-4, and Ty Creighton had an RBI double. For the Clippers (11-4), Tre'Chaun Days went 4 1/3 innings on the mound and at the plate doubled in Will Frostholm in the third inning. Eathen Vecchione hit a solo home run in the fourth inning.
Frostholm had an RBI single in the seventh inning. Matt Tribou also had an RBI single in the seventh inning. Also in high school sports action: Baseball Upper Cape 7, South Shore 2: The Rams (10-3) won their third game in a row.
