Insider points to Chiefs' top UDFA RB as potential breakout candidate

See what Chiefs Senior Team Reporter Matt McMullen had to say about UDFA RB Jaydn Ott, who will fight for a spot on KC's 53-man roster next season.

The Kansas City Chiefs made significant investments in their offensive backfield during the 2026 offseason by signing Super Bowl LX MVP Kenneth Walker III in free agency and selecting former Nebraska Cornhuskers star Emmett Johnson with the No. 161 pick in the fifth round of the 2026 NFL Draft. While Walker and Johnson are both likely to play key roles in Andy Reid's offense next season, Chiefs Senior Team Reporter Matt McMullen took time to recognize one of Kansas City's more underrated running back prospects in a video that was posted to Twitter this week.

Former Oklahoma Sooners standout Jaydn Ott, McMullen said, was among the players Chiefs fans should keep their eyes on this spring as Kansas City completes its offseason program: Jaydn Ott is a player from the Chiefs' undrafted rookie class worth keeping an eye on this spring. Just a few years removed from rushing for 1,300+ yards and 12 TDs at Cal in 2023. He has return experience, too.

If he doesn't make the team's final cut after training camp, fans should expect the ex-Sooners star to be a priority practice squad signing. This article originally appeared on Chiefs Wire: Chiefs rumors: Could this UDFA RB be a top breakout candidate in 2026?
