UFC 316 medical suspensions: Sean Strickland, Joshua Van out indefinitely after title wins

(Photo by Chris Unger/Zuffa LLC) New Jersey State Athletic Control Board (NJSACB) handed out 17 medical suspensions in the aftermath of UFC 328 this past weekend (Sat. , May 9, 2026) inside Prudential Center in Newark, with champions Sean Strickland , Joshua Van , and Tatsuro Taira among those who will need additional medical clearance before returning to action.
Strickland scored a split decision win over Khamzat Chimaev in the main event of UFC 328 to win the UFC Middleweight title, all while having a gnarly shoulder injury ( watch highlights ). Van defended his Flyweight title for the first time in the co-main event in UFC 328 when he knocked out Taira in the fifth round ( watch highlights ).
