Section 1 releases baseball playoff seeds and schedule
Fifty-two teams have made the Section 1 baseball playoffs. Ketcham, Rye, Tappan Zee, Putnam Valley and Tuckahoe are the top seeds.
What began in the last days of March will come to an end soon, but not before champions are crowned in five classes and those teams advance to state regional play. Wednesday, May 13, Section 1 released the seedings for its upcoming baseball playoffs. Both semifinals and finals in the classes will be double elimination.
Fifty-two teams qualified for post-season play. The seedings carried few surprises. The top team in Class AAA is Ketcham, which has 17 wins.
Rye edged Mahopac for the top spot in AA with both holding 15-5 records. The biggest slam dunk was Tappan Zee in Class A. The Dutchmen enter the playoffs with a 19-1 regular-season record.
Putnam Valley, which split with Briarcliff during the regular season, beat the Bears out for the No. 1 spot in Class B. Putnam Valley is 14-6 and Briarcliff 13-6-1.
