Every practice, the Oologah girls soccer team works on the concept of driving the ball flat back toward the goal instead of lofting it aimlessly into traffic. On Tuesday night, Walters executed the drill to perfection.

Twice. The senior delivered a pair of pinpoint assists to Allie Charloe in a span of just 62 seconds late in the first half, breaking the match wide open as the Lady Mustangs rolled past Regent Prep 4-1 in the Class 3A state semifinals. “If I don’t do flatter back, [coach Sam] Bowers gets onto me,” Walters said.

“It’s discipline for me to always do flatter back. I’m very thankful for that drill. Very thankful.
