Former Eagles running back calls out Dave Portnoy for lack of respect for pro-athletes.

There is a take floating around sports media that LeBron James’ 2020 championship doesn’t count because it was won in the NBA bubble. After hearing Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy try to make that argument on “Wake Up Barstool,“ former Eagles star LeSean McCoy lit up immediately. “When you take dudes that are not athletes that don’t respect athletes and they say stuff like this, bro,” McCoy said, via YouTube , “LeBron, bubble or no bubble, he’s going against other great professional players.

” The bubble didn’t empty the court of competition. Nikola Jokic — who would go on to become a multi-time MVP — was in that bubble. Every team that was in playoff contention before the pandemic paused the season was still competing.

The rules were the same for everyone. James and the Lakers simply won. Former Eagles linebacker Emmanuel Acho expanded on the point with equal fire.

“If you’ve accomplished anything athletically in your life at any level, you understand how hard it is to go against another person whose job it is to keep you from winning and win,” Acho said. “A professional. A professional, particularly an individual who is getting paid millions of dollars to stop you from doing what you are doing.
