Gaudreau brothers' legacy lives on through upcoming charity event

Members of the Gaudreau Family Foundation are holding a fundraising event in Sewell on May 16. Here's what to expect:

A charity that honors the legacies of brothers Johnny and Matty Gaudreau is set to hold a fundraiser May 16 in Washington Township. The Gaudreau Family Foundation plans a 5K run, a 2-mile walk and other attractions at Washington Lake Park in the Sewell section. This foundation supports hockey initiatives in the names of the Gaudreau brothers, who both had careers in the sport.

The brothers were killed in an August 2024 traffic accident in Salem County. Gaudreau case: Judge declines to dismiss indictment against driver "John and Matty's lives were defined by their generosity, kindness, and love for their community and family," their parents, Jane and Guy Gaudreau, said in a statement. The foundation provides "the opportunity to continue the good work they would have done," they added.

The event is to run from 7:45 a. m. to 2 p.

m. in the park at 626 Hurffville-Cross Keys Road. No openings remain for the run, walk and a cornhole tournament, according to the fundraiser's website.
