Yahoo Sports

Former Florida star Corey Brewer believes the Gators should enter 2026-27 with national championship expectations.

Former Florida national champion Corey Brewer is expecting more from the Gators next season The 2007 first-round draft pick and 13-year NBA veteran thinks Todd Golden's team should be competing for a title in the upcoming campaign. With multiple star players returning, Brewer categorized the 2026-27 campaign as "championship or bust. " Appearing on FDTV's "Run It Back", Brewer said anything short of another Final Four run isn't satisfactory for the program.

The 2011 NBA champion mentioned roster continuity as a primary catalyst for his confidence. The Gators return major contributors from a year ago who could have entered the NBA draft but chose to return to Gainesville. Brewer said, "We got the whole band back together," when speaking to the experience and chemistry Florida will bring next season.

Not only is Florida welcoming back its impact players from last season, but Golden has secured a dynamic crop of transfers to bolster depth. With these additions and Florida's national perception as one of college basketball's premier programs, Brewer's sentiment is valid and should ignite a fire in the Orange and Blue this offseason.
