Cook has signed for Cas from National Rugby League (NRL) outfit St George Illawarra Dragons and the former Australia hooker will join the Super League club for the 2027 season. Carr worked with Cook at the Dragons when he was their assistant coach and said the 34-year-old, who has played in four Tests for the Kangaroos and 17 State of Origin matches for New South Wales, as well as making 248 appearances in the NRL, ticks every box in terms of what the Tigers need.
"Cookie fits everything we're trying to do here in terms of his experience, his leadership, his quality of play, " Carr told BBC Radio Leeds. "He's a great person, both on and off the field, and having known him for a long, long time, I'm super excited to be getting him here. "He's just a good person.
He's got a lovely wife and kids and his values are really strong. "And because of his experience in the State of Origin games, he's played Grand Finals, he's played Test matches for Australia, he's seen a lot of the game from different angles. "I know he can come over here and finish off his legacy that he's created in this game of rugby league.
" Samoan centre Mat Feagai could follow Cook from the Dragons to Castleford next season and although Carr did not want to give too much away, he did promise more signings. "We'll see," he said. "There's a bit of work going on.
