Brian Burns 'real glad' New York Giants drafted Arvell Reese
New York Giants LB Brian Burns admits he's "real glad" the team drafted fellow LB Arvell Reese.
New York Giants rookie linebacker Arvell Reese has the support of his new teammate, Brian Burns. Speaking to NorthJersey. com's Art Stapleton after a Giants weight room session on Monday, Burns said he is pleased to have Reese as a teammate.
"Some guys, you know, gotta touch the stove to get burned, to learn the lesson,” Burns said. “Some guys get it right away. Either way, at the end of the day, we've got great guys in our building.
We'll see how it goes, but yeah, I'm real glad [Reese] is on the team. " The Giants selected Reese with the No. 5 overall pick in the 2026 NFL draft, addressing New York’s need for another inside linebacker this offseason.
Burns has been a force for the Giants’ pass rush since being traded to New York from the Carolina Panthers before the start of the 2024 season. The second-team All-Pro outside linebacker now has a heralded young inside linebacker to provide additional support in the Giants’ second line of defense beginning in 2026. The rookie-veteran dynamic between Burns and Reese will have time to develop as the Giants’ offseason program continues, extending into training camp next summer before the start of the 2026 NFL season.
