This year marks the 151st running of the Preakness, but for the first time in over 100 years, it will not be hel d at the famous Pimlico Race Course, which is currently undergoing a massive facility upgrade. Instead, it will be held at Laurel Park in Laurel, Maryland. This year’s Preakness is also notable because of which horses will not be running in the May 16 race: 2026 Kentucky Derby winner Golden Tempo is sitting out, as is another favored horse, Crude Velocity; their trainers are instead choosing to rest them in order to focus on the upcoming Belmont Stakes in June.
