The Los Angeles Dodgers have continued to prove they'll do whatever it takes to ensure they have a chance to win a World Series, and that won't change this offseason.

There have been a lot of questions about what the Dodgers and other teams in Major League Baseball are going to do about this potential lockout. It's been unfortunate to watch the league be put in this type of situation once again, but many think something has to change. For the Dodgers, that could mean having to move on from certain guys if the league doesn't grandfather these contracts in, though the expectation is that it will happen.

The Dodgers can also benefit from some things, though, depending on what happens next year. Nobody knows just yet what is going to happen, but Tarik Skubal, a left-hander for the Detroit Tigers who recently underwent surgery, is now facing a tough path. According to Kiley McDaniel, there's a possibility that his contract could be much different from what it was prior to this injury, including the possibility of him taking a short-term deal with opt-outs.

For a team like the Dodgers, that's music to Andrew Friedman's ears. “The assumption is that Skubal will return this season looking close to the same pitcher he has been recently, and his agent has stated it could be a relatively short absence, but he could land a lower price in free agency due to the renewed durability questions after this surgery. It's impossible to predict exactly how he'll appear on the mound after returning, what his market will look like at that point and whether the MLB labor situation will affect his negotiations.
