After just one season with the Houston Texans, former Iowa football tight end Luke Lachey has been claimed off waivers by a historic NFL franchise.

After just one season with the Houston Texans , former Iowa football tight end Luke Lachey has been claimed off waivers by the Green Bay Packers . Lachey, a 2025 7th-round selection (No. 255 overall) by the Texans , was waived on August 26, 2025, as part of final roster cuts and re-signed to the practice squad, where he spent the entire 2025 season.

The Packers claimed DB M. J. Devonshire off waivers from Buffalo and TE Luke Lachey off waivers from Houston.

Lachey served as one of Iowa 's permanent team captains during his senior year in the 2024-25 season. The Packers have been searching for depth at tight end since the end of the 2026 NFL Draft, and Lachey will certainly give Green Bay a high-quality option.
