A busy Tuesday of high school sports in RI, and we've got the scores

🥎Game of the Day East Providence 6, Pilgrim 5 Ava Silva broke up a tie game with a single in the fifth and Caroline Welch came up clutch with some insurance that was needed in the Townies 6-5 win over the Patriots. East Providence got off to a terrific start with four runs in the first, but Pilgrim got two in the second after scoring once in the first to make it a one-run game. In the fifth, Abigail Bryson ripped a triple that brought in Lia Wasilewski with the tying run and the Patriots had momentum.

Marianna Pina took it back for the Townies, leading off the bottom of the fifth with a double. On third base with two outs, she came home on a single by Silva to give EP the 5-4 lead. In the bottom of the sixth, it was Welch’s turn to come up clutch with a two-out double that proved important.

Pilgrim rallied in the seventh, getting a Bryson sacrifice fly to make it 6-5. With runners on the corner and two outs, EP’s Cassie Dulude induced a ground ball to short to end the game. Nethania Figueroa helped the Townies out in a big way, going 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs and one RBI.
