Former Los Angeles Rams and USC tight end Charle Young has died at age 75. His wife informed the San Francisco 49ers of Young’s death on Tuesday. Young helped the 49ers win the franchise’s first Super Bowl in 1982 when San Francisco defeated the Cincinnati Bengals 26-21 in Super Bowl XVI.

During that season, Young caught 37 catches for 400 yards and five touchdowns. Before joining the 49ers, Young also helped the Rams reach Super Bowl XIV during the 1979 season. He caught three passes for 39 yards in the NFC Championship game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
