Shortly after news broke on Tuesday, May 12, that the Memphis Grizzlies forward had died at age 29, NBC Los Angeles reported that drug paraphernalia was found in the home where the NBA player ‘s body was discovered and his death was being investigated as a possible overdose. The outlet stated that the Los Angeles fire department responded to a 911 call regarding a medical emergency on Monday, May 11.
Clarke was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics at around 5 p. m. local time.
Clarke’s agency, Priority Sports, and the Grizzlies both confirmed the news of his death on social media. “We are all beyond devastated by the passing of Brandon Clarke. He was so loved by all of us here, and everyone whose life he touched.
