Green Bay Packers Connected to Pair of Pro Bowl Players

The Green Bay Packers always feel like they’re capable of competing for a playoff spot. Considering they’ve snatched a playoff spot in six out of Matt LaFleur’s seven seasons as head coach, the Packers are right to feel that way. Yet, for whatever reason, the Packers have never been able to get over the hump and compete for a Super Bowl.

The last time the Lombardi Trophy was within grasp came back in 2010, when Mike McCarthy led the franchise to their fourth Super Bowl win. Is this the year that changes? To do so, the Packers will have to be nearly perfect, which will require contributions from all 53 players on the roster, and then some.

While the Packers may already have a playoff roster, Sports Illustrated ‘s Eva Geitheim recently stated her case for why Green Bay should still add an impact rotational edge rusher in free agency. Her advice is for the Packers to target a pair of former Pro Bowl pass rushers, Jadeveon Clowney or Joey Bosa. “The Packers have one of the best edge rushers in Micah Parsons, but the position group is thin after him, even with Green Bay picking up Lukas Van Ness’s fifth-year option.
