Khamzat Chimaev is getting right back on the horse. Just days after losing his UFC middleweight title in a stunner against Sean Strickland , Chimaev’s debut with upstart wrestling league Real American Freestyle (RAF) is officially on the books. Chimaev, 32, is set to wrestle against fellow MMA veteran Dillon Danis on June 13 at RAF 10, which goes down inside the Chaifetz Arena in St.
Louis, Missouri. RAF officials announced the matchup Tuesday. Chimaev’s signing with RAF was unveiled in April at RAF 8 .
A fearsome force on the mats, Chimaev’s wrestling carried him a perfect 9-0 start in the UFC and the promotion’s middleweight title until Strickland pulled off a stunning upset this past Saturday at UFC 328 . Prior to his MMA career, Chimaev was a three-time Swedish national champion in freestyle wrestling, winning gold from 2016-18. Danis, 32, made his RAF debut in March at RAF 7, losing via tech fall (14-4) to former UFC interim welterweight champion Colby Covington.
