WC to host baseball super regional
For the first time, the Weatherford College baseball team is hosting the NJCAA Southwest District Super Regional Tournament, to be held Thursday through Saturday, May 14-16, at Roger Williams Ballpark. An “if necessary” game will be held on Sunday, May 17. The 4-team bracket will follow a double-elimination format, with the winner advancing to the NJCAA Div.
I World Series in Grand Junction, Colorado. Midland College (47-10, ranked No. 9 in the country) is the No.
1 seed in the super regional, followed by 2-seed Weatherford (39-18, ranked No. 21), 3-seed McLennan Community College (45-11, ranked No. 10) and 4-seed Howard College (31-25).
Weatherford opens tournament play against McLennan on Thursday at noon. Games are scheduled for noon and 3 p. m.
Thursday and Friday, with the championship game set for 3 p. m. Saturday and the “if necessary” game Sunday at 1 p.
