Kentucky is targeting many of the top 100 defensive recruits in 2028

Upgrading the talent on the roster has been the focal point of coach Will Stein and the Kentucky Wildcats since he took over the job. He added some of the top players from the transfer portal for the coming season, but is looking to the future as well. The 2027 recruiting class Stein has put together already includes a top 100 player and multiple four-star prospects.

It currently ranks as a top ten class by 247Sports, and they are still in on several more of the top players still available. Stein has also begun recruiting the 2028 class, and he is targeting many of the top 100 players there as well. We previously looked at the 17 offensive players Kentucky as offered out of those names on that list.

On the defensive side, they've offered even more. Counting the players listed as "athlete", the Cats have offered 36 of the top 100 recruits. Here's a quick look at the names to watch, with their 247Sports class ranking in parentheses.

Edge Kameron McGee (No 3 overall) - Long and lean, McGee is a speed rusher with a high ceiling. He already has offers from nearly every top program. Darieon Prescott (No 7 overall) - Like McGee, Prescott is an Illinois product and has offers from almost everyone seemingly.
